Stocks, liquidity rally on possible fresh money inflow

Vietnamese stock market today surged on speculation over a fresh money inflow to the market with VN-Index hiking 3.01 points (0.65 percent) to 462.93 points and HNX-Index regaining 1.75 points (2.28 percent) to 78.5 points

The total trading volume on Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange (HoSE) and Hanoi Stock Exchange (HNX) today reached about 119.75 million shares with trading value worth over VND1.668,42 trillion, up 11.2 percent in volume and 19.2 percent in value against the previous trading session.

On HoSE, total trading volume reached about 52.17 million shares worth over VND862.82 billion, up 10.4 percent in volume and 20.7 percent in value against the previous trading session.

The southern bourse’s benchmark index today rallied for the 12th session in a row.

Among the highest-cap stocks, MSN and BVH reached the ceiling price, while VIC returned to hit the floor price.

All four bank shares lost points today, of which VCB and STB slipped over 2 percent.

Other big stocks, such as FPT, DPM, KDC, OGC, SSI and PVD, also tumbled.

HQC of Hoang Quan real estate firm increased for the fourth consecutive session to VND15,000 per share with a trading volume of over 2.6 million units, marking the highest volume since listing and three-time increase against the average trading volume in the last 10 sessions.

Regarding negotiation transactions, STB reached 3.1 million units worth over VND42.1 billion at the floor price of VND13,600 per share, lower than the closing price of VND14,000 per share.

On HNX, there were about 67.4 million shares worth about VND806 billion being traded, up 11.8 percent in volume and 12.7 percent in value over the previous trading session.

Five stocks reached the biggest trading volume, including KLS, VND, PVX, VCG and SHN. They also gained points by the end of the trading session with VCG reaching the ceiling price.

By the end of the trading session, there were 143 gainers, 104 losers and 53 stocks standing still at reference prices on the southern bourse, and the respective figures on the northern bourse were 263, 42 and 10.

Foreign investors today shifted to net-selling mode after 4 net-buying sessions in a row on HoSE and one session on HNX with over VND57.8 billion and VND780 million respectively.

On the southern bourse, their net-selling session today concentrated on TTP, FPT, VIC, VCB, and ANV with VND16.5 billion, VND13 billion, VND11.17 billion, VND7.57 billion, and VND5.83 billion respectively.

But they also focused on net-buying when focusing on MSN, DPM, BVH, SJS and IJC with VND8.09 billion, VND5.7 billion, VND5.04 billion, VND3.75 billion, and VND2.7 billion respectively.

This was the 3rd consecutive session FPT on the net-selling list with total volume and value of over 494,000 shares and VND24.5 billion respectively.

On the northern bourse, leading net-selling stocks today was PGS with overVND3.3 billion, while leading net-purchased stock were SHB and VCG with total value of about VND3.3 billion.
